Made from 100% cotton fibre:
The longer fibres are combed first from the cotton boll and used for textiles. Fine hairs called linters left on the cotton seeds are removed by the cotton seed oil producers. Bales of those are sent to fine paper makers who pulp them to make cotton paper. Nothing is wasted. Mount Boards are made by laminating layers, or plies, of thick cotton paper together.
Acid-free:
Cotton Museum Mount Board board is naturally acid-free.No buffer is used. PH 6.8
Laminating adhesive:
The cotton paper sheets are laminated together using an inert archival adhesive that is acid-free. Unlike many other Mount Boards, they are fully re-cyclable.
Pigment colouring and quality control:
Only the finest pigments are used in the making process to ensure that the tints will not fade. Tints of successive batches are matched using computerised measurement systems. Cotton Museum board is carefully tested during the making process to ensure conformance to the TAPPI and ASTM specifications in the Fine Art Trade Guild standards for Museum quality Mount Boards, Level 1.
Superior cutting of bevels:
Few other Mount Boards cut as well as Cotton Museum to reveal sharp and clean bevels. This is the result when the plies are always of the same quality, density and calliper. They cut well on manual and CMC mountcutters.
All Cotton Museum boards in the ColourMount range meet the Fine Art Trade Guild specification for Museum quality Mount Boards, Level 1.
There are three other tints of the 1.5mm Cotton Museum board in the range. Also, a 0.75mm White Cotton Museum Barrier Board.
